The second annual Regional Economic Development Summit takes place in Lake City Friday, May 15th, at the Baptist Fellowship Hall at 401 Bluff Street. The workshop begins at 9:00 a.m., with a keynote presentation by Jennifer Joyce of True North Programs. The morning session will emphasize self-mastery and its importance in business leadership. The afternoon session will begin with a presentation by Rhona Keckler, of Region 10, presenting information to business owners about the benefits enterprise zones and enhanced rural enterprise zones. Various case studies will be reviewed in smaller breakouts, with the day concluding around 4 p.m.
There is no cost for the workshop. Lunch is provided with registration. Space is limited. |

“The Moving Wall,” a half-size replica of the Washington, DC, Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display at Cerise Park in Montrose, starting Thursday, May 14, through 4 pm Monday, May 18. This is the only stop “The Moving Wall” will make in Colorado in 2009. “The Moving Wall” exhibit will be open 24 hours a day, May 14-18. An Opening Ceremony will take place Thursday, May 14, at 10 am and a Closing Ceremony Monday, May 18, at 3 pm, both at the exhibit area. A special ceremony to honor Armed Forces Day and acknowledge “The Moving Wall” exhibit will take place in Cerise Park Saturday, May 16, at 10 am. The Armed Forces Day ceremony will feature remarks from Lieutenant General Bruce L. Fister (retired) of the United States Air Force, special music by a 34-piece trumpet band from University of Northern Colorado, taps, flyover and much more. Seating is limited so it is recommended to bring a lawn chair. Also, no pets, alcohol, smoking or food is permitted in the exhibit area. Additional parking is available on May 16 at Russell Stover parking lot (off Rio Grande Avenue) with shuttle service to and from Riverbottom Park and Cerise Park starting at 8:30 am. Cerise Park can be accessed by car from Shane’s Way off Chipeta Drive, by footpath from Riverbottom/Baldridge Park (off Rio Grande Avenue), or by footpath from the Main Street Park (off Highway 90). There is no camping permitted in the Park.
