BLM Staff Visits Hotchkiss Town Council About Gas Leases

The Bureau of Land Management held the first of three meetings with local town councils last night. About 50 people showed up at the Hotchkiss town hall to hear what agency representatives had to say about the pending gas lease auction of parcels in the North Fork Valley. KVNF’s Marty Durlin reports.

The authors, Kathy Addams McKee – a fourth Generation native of the valley and Claudia Sutliff King, a lifetime resident, compiled pictures and history of the North Fork Valley from the 1880’s through present day. North Fork Oil and Gas Leasing Returns

Once again, the North Fork Valley is back on the table for oil and gas development. Despite months of widespread opposition from the community, on Friday, the Bureau of Land Management announced that it plans to offer about 21,000 acres for sale near Paonia, Hotchkiss and Crawford in February. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious reports on the new proposal.
