VOGA Profiles: Avalanche Cheese

Since last harvest season, local photographer and KVNF morning host JT Thomas has been photographing many of the Valley Organic Growers Association farmers. The project was inspired by the USDA’s “Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food” program. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious has accompanied JT on several photo shoots and recorded interviews with the same farmers about the challenges of small-scale organic farming, and how to make it work.

In the VOGA farmer series, Ariana Brocious spoke with Wendy Mitchell of Avalanche Farm and Dairy, who has her goat farm in Paonia but makes the cheese in the Roaring Fork Valley.
