Alycin Bektesh

Alycin Bektesh is an award-wining multimedia journalist recognized for her public affairs reporting and newsroom leadership. She is a Colorado native, growing up in Boulder and Fort Collins before heading to Vermont where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Photography and Playwriting in 2006.

She then spent three years in New York City running the studios at PhotoManhattan photography school and working as a photographer and columnist for Brooklyn culture magazine Pomp & Circumstance.

In 2010 Alycin obtained her Masters Degree from Indiana University’s Ernie Pyle School of Journalism, and went on to lead the newsroom of WFHB Bloomington Community Radio for the next five years.

In her time as a journalist, Alycin has won numerous awards for her reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, most recently being recognized as producing 2014’s Best Newscast and Best Election Day Coverage in the state of Indiana. Alycin has also been recognized by the Association of Women in Communications and was named the 2015 Emerging Leader by the City of Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Women for her work in mentoring young female journalists and covering issues of social justice and inequality.

Alycin is thrilled to be returning to the Rocky Mountains and bringing her love for multimedia, NPR, and Instagram to Aspen Public Radio. She brings with her to the Valley her best friend, a 3-year old mutt named Ada Lovelace.
