Here’s the debate between Republican Incumbent Ray Scott and Democratic challenger Dan Robinson, candidates for State House District 55, in Mesa County. Club 20 Business Affairs Committee Chair Phil Vaughan moderated the debate. Each candidate was given three minutes for opening remarks, and Democrat Dan Robinson was first.

As new technology allows the oil and gas industry to develop areas once thought to be off-limits, across Colorado, local governments are pushing the boundaries of the state’s regulatory authority to protect land and citizens. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious reports that can land them in tricky territory.

Yesterday afternoon, the Delta County Commissioners took additional evidence and testimony on two applications for laying hen operations in the county. One of them, Western Slope Layers, has been operating for a few months already on Powell Mesa. KVNF’s Ariana Brocious reports that the hearing was required after a district court sent the commissioners original approval of both applications back to the county for further review.

Enos T. Hotchkiss arrived in the North Fork Valley in 1881, and started homesteading along with the town’s other founders.

As awareness about the critical role bees play in agriculture grows, so has interest in backyard bee keeping. For KVNF and the iSeeChange project, Julia Kumari Drapkin looks into questions that North Fork Valley beekeepers have about bee swarms this year.
