Two local organizations are partnering to create a business and resource center in Delta County.
Delta County Economic Development (DCED) and Region 10 are now sharing workspace in downtown Delta.
"For us it just makes sense because we have been partnering on a number of different initiatives and there’s I think a way we can develop more energy and resources around bring some projects and programs to Delta and to Delta County," said Trish Thibodo, the executive director of DCED.
The agencies moved into the old Bank of Colorado building in Delta at 145 W. 4th Street.
Michelle Haynes, the executive director of Region 10, said it allows her organization to establish a physical location in the Delta community.
"We’ve kind of been looking for that opportunity for a while and we're grateful that DCED presented that to us," said Haynes.
Haynes said the goal of the center is to offer a range of services to the community such as classes and seminars.
"We’ll be hosting business meetings with our Small Business Development Center councilors," she said. "[It] will gives us office space to provide consulting to businesses, which we are able to provide through state funding at no charge to those businesses."
Region 10 will offer services for the elderly and disabled at the site.
"It will be the primary office for our Delta County options councilor [who] works with our older and disabled population and the location for our Medicare councilors as well," said Haynes.
Region 10 and DCED are also working together on a broadband initiative. Region 10 recently received a $5.2 million state grant to develop better broadband access in Delta County and eastern Montrose County.
