Accommodating others without full awareness is a disservice to others and to myself.
When I accommodate others, I give up some of my own truth. I set aside my full presence in favor of another's comfort or perceived need. As I explored accommodation during a training, I realized sometimes accommodation arises from kindness, or a desire to serve. A deeper look surprised me as I discovered a childhood trauma had triggered me to use accommodating as a strategy to gain safety. The price, though, was loss of trust in myself and my own wisdom.
