As we celebrate the Summer Solstice, (10:24 pm MDT Tuesday 6/20/17,) host Jill Spears and her gardening experts Lulu Volckhausen and Lance Swigart discuss tips for summer gardening, including dealing with the current heat wave.

Garlic is ready for harvest. Time to plant fall cabbage crop.

Dave calls from Delta to ask "Are carrot tops edible?" Answer: Yes they are.

A reminder that there is a photo display of Lance's garden, shot by his neighbor Suze Smith, on display at the KVNF studios, 233 Grand Ave, Paonia, until the end of the month. Lance himself will be here for the Final Friday Art Walk on the evening of June 30th.

A native Texan, Jeff was bitten by the Colorado "bug" after graduating from UT-Austin. He arrived in Paonia on the October full moon of 1978, and has been involved with KVNF since its earliest days. His first KVNF show was "Sunday Night Live," which featured live musicians performing in the original Garvin Mesa garage/studio.
