Story Share brings four art forms together to shine a light on the stories that create our community. First, a community member shares a story from their personal family history in the area. A local writer then shares a written piece based on the family’s story and a visual artist shares artwork inspired by the original story. Finally, the story is interpreted by CU Boulder Playback Theatre. This creative way to share stories is powerful in bringing together various segments of the community. Story Share illuminates how so many of us share similar stories.
Community members sharing their stories include Jessica and Franco Catinella, Sheila Maki, Gretchen and Robin Nicholoff and Campbell Stanton. Writers include Marla Bishop, Steve Harper, John Hutchison, and James Schott. Visual artists participating include Dorien Bethune, Susan Capps, Cecilia Caulderon, Susie Kaldis Lowe, and Susan Stanton. The work received from this program will be included in the Smithsonian exhibit “Crossroad: Change in Rural America” currently scheduled for 2023.
