Released 5.29.12 Normaltown Records
Ukred, is exactly as fresh and lamby as its newly-birthed label, Normaltown. An imprint label of New West Records (Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle, Kristofferson). Normaltown, named for the artists district in it's home town, Athens, GA, was established to grow young talent without immediate expectations. Fitting that it's first release is a doe-eyed (and legged) venture of NW Records band, Ponderosa's front man.
The first track, “Don’t You Love Me, Baby?” haunts as the ghost of a soul 100 years old. Written by Kalen’s great-grandfather, Euquid “Ukred” Lee Nash, it is a staggering beginning to the album. The rest of Ukred has a distinctly younger voice, but bears promising resemblance to the tree it fell from.
Think a more chemically-balanced early Ryan Adams.
