CDOT/KVNFThe Colorado Department of Transportation has closed a bridge on US Highway 50 west of Gunnison. The Federal Highway Administration requested the bridge closure after an inspection on Thursday identified defects in the structure.The closure is in place between US Hwy 50 Mile Point 131 which is the intersection with Colorado Highway 92 and MP 138. Local traffic will be allowed through the closure point to reach residences. -
A safety closure is in place for a bridge on US Highway 50 located west of Gunnison. The Colorado Department of Transportation is closing the bridge at the urging of the Federal Highway Administration and state bridge engineering experts due to the findings of an ongoing safety inspection, which identified anomalies in the bridge on Thursday, April 18.

The death of a Delta County woman who vanished last November was ruled accidental, according to the autopsy report released March 13 reports the Delta County Independent.Delta County Sheriff Mark Taylor says 40 year old - Samantha Bartolo’s death was the result of drug intoxication and exposure to the elements. Although her death was ruled accidental, elements of the case remain suspicious, says Taylor, adding that “investigators continue to work diligently, trying to piece things together.” -
Hotchkiss Town Attorney Bo Nerlin is working on changes to the town’s parking ordinances, reports the Delta County Independent. Nerlin brought up the two-hour limit for parking on Bridge Street between the hours of 8am and 5pm. He also pointed out illegal parking on Bridge Street including trailers, ATVs and go-karts and suggested doubling fees for parking violations. -
the Delta County Sheriff's Office is advising the community about a phone scam in the area. They say citizens are receiving calls from someone pretending to be a Deputy or Sergeant stating they missed a jury summons and have a warrant for their arrest. Citizens are then told to come to the Sheriff's Office with a card to pay to squash the warrant. -
