Last week, state Sen. Kerry Donovan hosted a town hall in Paonia. She talked about her first year at the capitol and bills she's working on for the next legislative session.

Donovan, D-Vail, said she's working on measures to address tiny homes in Colorado, a tax credit for families that support children and elderly dependents, economic assistance grants for struggling communities, broadband, and adding blaze pink to the safety colors hunters can wear. KVNF's Laura Palmisano spoke to the senator after the event.

Laura joined KVNF in 2014. She was the news director for two years and now works as a freelance reporter covering Colorado's Western Slope. Laura is an award-winning journalist with work recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, Colorado Broadcasters Association, and RTDNA. In 2015, she was a fellow for the Institute for Justice & Journalism. Her fellowship project, a three-part series on the Karen refugee community in Delta, Colorado, received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
