Telluride To Exceed Emissions Goal

According to a recent report, the town of Telluride is on track to hit their goal of reducing carbon emissions 20% by the year 2020. In fact, they’re ahead of schedule.

A report compiled by Michelle Haynes for Eco Action Partners projects that they’ll have reduced emissions 22% by 2015, five years before the deadline.

"I think it's great that the Telluride community has achieved an emission reduction goal, and anticipate that prior to 2020," says Haynes, "but at the same time there are other really important factors such as reducing reliance on non-renewable energy.  That really needs to be the focus."

Michelle says that can be accomplished by sourcing food and power locally as well as composting, to reduce shipping costs.
