Vision Charter Academy, a public charter school with three campuses in Delta County, won't offer classes at its North Fork campus next school year.
Parents of students at Vision’s school in Paonia received the news Thursday via email.
Teri Kinkade the executive director of Vision Charter Academy wrote the letter.
In her email, Kinkade tells parents Vision’s board met earlier this week and decided to no longer offer classes at its Paonia location.
She cites a 'lack of interest' and 'declining enrollment' as reasons for the board’s decision.
Kinkade says Vision will still maintain an office in the North Fork Valley and offer services for its home school based families.
She says students can take classes at the charter academy’s locations in Delta and Cedaredge.
Liz Evans has five children enrolled in Vision’s Paonia-based home school program. She says the changes won't affect her kids, but she’s worried about teachers.
"My only concern would be is that...there may be some people who lose jobs," Evans says.
The email sent to parents doesn’t address what will happen to school staff.
Calls to Vision Charter Academy for comment weren't immediately returned.
