“Pass the Mic” is a youth storytelling and news corps program developed by KVNF in partnership with The North Fork Heart & Soul Project. Over the course of two years, 14 young reporters will be assigned to a “beat” reporting on a North Fork industry. Youth participants will learn the skills of how to produce interviews and stories in a multi-media context, and will be supported in presenting their final projects to the valley.
KVNF’s program director, Ali Lightfoot, is the director of “Pass the Mic”, and will collaborate with local videographers and producers from Delta County Film Collective and Hutman Media to create audio and video reports. The reports will be aired on KVNF, posted here, and a documentary film will be created to tell the stories of the youth involved, and what they experienced through the process.
Seven young reporters were selected to report on 5 sectors of the North Fork Valley economy. You can read about them in their very own words here. The individual posts appear under this program page, and include the Pass the Mic interviews from 2012 in the pagination as well!
