Felix Belmont: Elder Statesman of the Radio Waves

Jan 31, 2020

This conversation with Felix Belmont, who was instrumental to KVNF's founding and served as a longtime DJ & interview host, delves into Felix's long and colorful life story. Felix retired from the airwaves in November, at age 101, making him quite possibly the oldest working public radio DJ in America. Felix talks about his love for public radio, and also his experiences as a soldier in World War Two, standing toe-to-toe with the Japanese army in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

Felix has been a volunteer DJ at KVNF for over 35 years.

He hosts a program called Stop Time where he plays big band music from the 20's, 30's and 40's. And, he might just be the oldest volunteer DJ in public radio and...maybe the world.
