The U.S. unemployment rate is the lowest it's been since September 2008.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday the nation's unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent in June.

June was the fifth consecutive month that U.S. employers added more than 200,000 jobs.

Colorado's unemployment rate is lower than than the national number.

The state's unemployment rate was 5.8 percent in May, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

The department said Colorado's unemployment rate for June will be released later this month.
