Lisa Schoch, environmental protection specialist and senior historian for CDOT's environmental programs branch, explains it is the design that makes the Gunnison River Bridge on Highway 92 near Delta historic. The National Historic Preservation Act calls for the 83-year old camelback pony truss bridge to be put up for adoption. CDOT hopes someone repurposes it for a trail or other public or private use, but relocation and reassembly are the recipient's responsibility.
