Growing Home - Reducing "Transplant Shock"

If you are setting out new plants into the garden, you can reduce "transplant shock" by giving your seedlings a few days in the sun, before you transplant them. This helps the plants get used to the sun’s ultraviolet rays and drier air. Water plants thoroughly before setting them in the hole. Maintain good moisture after planting. It also helps to use ½ strength fertilizer 10 days before the transplants go out. If your seedlings are wilting after they are planted, protect them from the sun for a few days with some cardboard.
