2015 Ridgway Summer Concert Series, Week 2 - Humming House with Intuit

The spotlight on Nashville, with its musical values and timeless traditions, is currently bright. And no band embodies what’s right about 21st century Nashville more completely than the quintet known as Humming House. It’s the way they weave together threads of Music City’s folk, soul, and bluegrass legacies. It’s in the inspirational and revealing songwriting. It’s in their acoustic instrumentation, presenting mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar and bass in fresh roles. It’s in the pleasant tension between rousing energy and nuanced arrangements. And it’s in the voices, with two complimentary stylists up front and backed by the full band’s rapturous harmonies.

Intuit formed in 2011 in Boulder, and began to shape their sound and intentions together on the campus of Naropa University. With roots in reggae, funk, jazz, blues, hip-hop, folk, and world music, the band has developed a distinguishable sound of their own. Their song writing crosses genres with a rich improvisational component that keeps a fresh live energy to their wide repertoire of original music. With heart-warming lulls, climactic peaks, and endless stylistic shape–shifting, Intuit delivers a captivating groove that all can enjoy. Inspired by their shared love for the earth and all her creatures, as well as a dedication to building community and growing together, each song has a message inviting us to go beyond the surface into a deeper sense of knowing. Let the music lift you up and take you in.

Recorded Thursday, July 9th, 2015, Ridgway Town Park
