So much is happening at KVNF in December....
KVNF Welcomes NEW GENERAL MANAGER
General Manager Jon Howard took the reins on November 16th and is busy managing his move from the Isle of Wight, U.K. and immersing himself in all things KVNF. Jon is steeped in the U.S. version of public radio and in rural living. He grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado and then logged over 20 years in public radio including university stations in Texas and Kansas and a multi-county rural station in the Allegheny Mountains.
He brings skills in finance, management, programming as well as in technology. He's already been up to the Wakefield transmitter with Operations Manager Jeff Reynolds to troubleshoot a spotty signal. He and his wife Erica look forward to settling in to Western Colorado and getting to know more about our far-flung listening area. Stop in to say hello! And if you missed Program Director Ali Lightfoot's interview with Jon, check the Local Motion archive.
JOE COCKER's very Special XJ12 Jaguar to Benefit KVNF
KVNF is proud to list for auction Joe Cocker's 1995 XJ12 Jaguar. This "British Racing Green" beauty lived at Joe's Mad Dog Ranch in Crawford, Colorado, and it was at the wheel of this car that Joe learned to drive! Joe passed away last December and bequeathed this special vehicle to KVNF. Generosity was part of his nature. Joe's Jaguar Auction launched on eBAY Sunday evening, Nov. 29, 2015.
The Auction closes at 7 p.m. PST on next Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015. Check out the KVNF website for more Jaguar details or go directly to the classic car section on eBay to place your bid. As area residents for 20 years, Joe and his wife Pam have been generous supporters of KVNF Community Radio and many other community efforts in the North Fork Valley. The Cocker Kids' Foundation continues to raise money to provide grants to local schools and other projects that benefit the development and enrichment of local youth. (Be sure to check out their MDR Red Tag Sale at Heritage Hall at the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss this weekend -- Dec. 4,5,6 from 9-3.)
Fortunately, we can still connect with the music Joe left us and his spirit lives on. Thanks Pam and Joe for this amazing gift and we can't wait to see who drives this beauty home!
