For centuries, gardeners have planted by the moon. For instance, a waxing moon is thought to be good for sowing above-ground crops like lettuce and beans. A waning moon is thought to favor root crops such as carrots and potatoes. The theory suggests lunar gravity influences soil moisture, aiding germination and root growth. However, scientific proof is hard to come by. But advocates point to its ancient roots and their own observations. At the very least, planting by the moon won’t do any harm, but you might have been promised the moon.
