Ten kids and their dogs competed in the 4-H Dog Obedience Show at the Delta County Fair.
Dog trainer Rayna Stout of Cedaredge judged the competition where young trainers and their K-9s were scored based on their performances in showmanship, obedience and agility.
Kenda Falkner, 13, and her dog Australian Shepherd-Red Heeler mix Ashkie entered the show for fun.
"Well we just got this new puppy so I just thought it would be kind of fun just to kind of help train him," she said.
Falkner said she’s been doing clicker training with her dog to prepare for the show.
"He caught onto it really fast and he’s been doing very good," she said.
Damon Hudson, 13, said training his Border Collie Lily for the show was a challenge.
"The hardest part is to make her sit," Hudson said.
Trevor Pike, 11, and his mutt Echo were the overall grand champions of the show.
Pike said he’s been training his dog for about a year and is looking forward to their next competition.
“I think that [Echo] did well and I know what I need to work on for next year," he said.
