TOP STORY: On Monday afternoon Delta Police Chief Luke Fedler gave an update on the shooting that took place Sunday morning in Delta. Fedler, speaking during the briefing, identified the shooting suspect as 75-year-old male Steven Grubb. The two gunshot victims were named as Grubb’s son and his son’s girlfriend. Fedler described what took place at the residence north of Delta during a livestream on the Delta County Independent’s Facebook page.
Two men aboard a fixed-wing aircraft died on impact when the craft struck a mound near Montrose Regional Airport on Monday morning, according to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office. Their identification is pending confirmation and notification of next of kin. The plane had taken off from runway 31 at Montrose Regional Airport Monday morning, according to MCSO spokesman Dave Farley said. The aircraft, which is described in Federal Aviation Administration records as experimental and amateur-built, banked to the right, and failed to gain sufficient altitude to clear a mound a few miles from the end of the runway, according to preliminary information.
PUBLIC LANDS: A proposal to sell off two to three million acres of federal public lands is drawing criticism from more than environmentalists and Democrats. As Rocky Mountain Community Radio’s Caroline Llanes reports, conservatives aren’t thrilled with it, either.
