LOCAL NEWS: Delta Health has been selected to join the inaugural cohort of the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program, a new federal initiative aimed at improving financial stability for rural hospitals. The program, supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration and administered by the National Rural Health Resource Center, pairs hospitals with national experts to assess performance and identify opportunities for growth.

Over the next 18 to 24 months, Delta Health will receive targeted support to develop new services, address care gaps, and improve operational efficiency. CEO Jonathan Cohee said the program offers “a tremendous opportunity” to build a stronger financial foundation and ensure quality healthcare access for the community.

Delta Health is one of eight hospitals chosen nationwide. The program’s ultimate goal is to improve healthcare delivery across rural America by helping hospitals like Delta Health thrive long-term.

County Fair season is upon us. Up first is the San Miguel Basin Fair which starts this Saturday and runs through July 19. Montrose County Fair is up next, kicking off on July 18 and wrapping up on July 26th. Just as the Montrose Fair ends, the 120th annual Delta County Fair starts on July 26 and runs through Aug. 3 in the Town of Hotchkiss. A long-standing tradition in the region, the fair celebrates the agricultural roots, community spirit and creative talents of Delta County.
