LOCAL NEWS: Delta County School District will begin a series of public meetings addressing the declining enrollment in the North Fork Valley and potential plans to combine the North Fork Montessori School in Crawford and the North Fork School of Integrated Studies. According to reporting in the Delta County Independent, the first North Fork Task Meeting will be held this Friday at 10:00 a.m. Contact the school district for more details including meeting location.

The City of Delta will seek the passage of a ballot measure this November that would allow the city to retain over $500,000 in annual revenue currently lost due to the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR). The city will ask the voters to exempt fines, fees and interest from TABOR. City Manager Elysee Casselberry said the process, called debrucing, would help address the city’s budget issues. She said the benefit of targeting fees, fines and interest is that the additional revenues wouldn’t come from taxes but largely come from speeding tickets, other fines and developer costs.
