Join us to learn about early spring perennial roots for health and wellbeing! In this hands-on learning experience we will dig elecampane, marshmallow, valerian, horseradish, comfrey, calamus, woad, madder, dang shen, huang qin. and more! Discussion on cultivating and propagating perennial plants, harvesting, processing, storing and creating herbal medicines from roots including alcohol and vinegar tinctures, honeying, drying!
We recommend warm clothes, mud boots, gloves - this is a an outside hands-on experience, rain, snow or shine.
Herbs and starts available for sale during the class, all of the above listed species can be purchased per pound fresh and as the divided crowns to replant.
Alicia Michelsen has been teaching herbalism and working with local plants and home remedies for over 25 years. She cultivates medicinal herbs at her gardens in Crawford and Paonia.
Matt is the farmer at Grey owl Garden and has been growing medicinal herbs and making plant medicine for over 20 years in Alaska and Paonia.
