Wildflowers of the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area
Different elevations and habitats provide opportunities to view a wide variety of Colorado’s native plants and wildflowers. Ridgway writer Mary Menz and Montrose photographer Jim Pisarowicz will share their extensive plant knowledge and excitement for the area with you. It’s still early for many annual wildflowers in the mountains, so we’ll explore the early season beauty of the Gunnison Gorge Recreation Area, north of Montrose. Participants are responsible for the $3 daily entry fee, payable on site.
Registration includes a copy of their book Common Wildflowers of the San Juan Mountains (second printing 2022). Special guest and fellow NPM Sandra Dick will also join the group as a guide! Each year brings a different perspective to the landscape depending on winter precipitation. Bring cameras and nature journals to satisfy your creative outlets.
All groups are limited to 12 participants. Participants will meet and carpooling is recommended—specific directions and more information will be provided via email prior to the event.
Register for one guided experience or all!
