Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center and Delta County Libraries present “Voices of the Western Slope,” a series of entertaining, engaging, and informative presentations on noteworthy topics of the Western Slope. The March program is "Coral Reefs: A Half Century Perspective," presented by Robert Halley, geologist and diver. Halley will talk about how coral reefs have suffered climate change effects for 50 years. Some consider corals to be “the canary in the coal mine” of climate change. The changes occurred on Halley's watch while working for the Department of Interior. What used to be considered hazards to navigation are now considered worlds of wonder under the sea. And now they are disappearing. Tragic as these changes seem, some younger scientists remain optimistic. Join us for the in-person event on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:00pm at Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center. Seating is limited, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
