Montrose County is facing political turmoil after the failed hiring of a new county manager, the resignation of Interim Manager Leslie Quon, and the launch of a formal recall effort against Commissioner Scott Mijares. Quon cited a hostile work environment and fears of retaliation. Meanwhile, Mijares’ critics accuse him of creating instability and wasting public funds. If enough signatures are gathered by August 15th, voters could decide on his recall this November.
