Gathering in a circle, participants share briefly about what has drawn each to meditation, then listen to the guidance that comes to Meg to express. A bell is rung and all enjoy thirty minutes of stillness and silence which concludes with a second bell and another round of sharing any gifts, challenges or insights from the time of sitting.
A regular on her Paonia Meditation Circle on Thursday mornings, artist Jill Knudsen, offers this reflection on her experience:
“I began my meditation practice with Meg a little over two years ago at the Paonia Senior Center. Believe me when I say I didn’t realize how this one hour weekly routine would enrich my life. Meg builds community, respect for all, and gratitude in a non- judgmental way. All are welcome. My practice has grown now to several times a week. Meditation has calmed my mind, opened my heart, and helps me see things as they are.”
Meet Your Instructor:Meg has pursued many directions of her heart throughout her life, working as a lay midwife, in public radio, as a mediator and group facilitator, and serving as a hospice volunteer. In 2002 she participated in a week-long silent retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh, the first of many residential meditation retreats over several years. Meditating in community with the benefit of clear guidance strengthened Meg’s personal practice and supported her participation in weekly meditation groups over twenty years. Meg currently hosts a weekly meditation circle at Paonia Senior Center on Thursdays and at Wellspring Vitality at the Creamery Arts Center on Wednesdays.
