  • KVNF's Cassie Knust speaks with Matt Jenkins, spokesperson for Montrose County School District, about the district’s threat reporting option, Safe2Tell, after hearing about the death of a 17-year old in Aurora who was shot over the weekend during a house party. Safe2Tell is an anonymous online reporting tool that students, families and community members can use if they suspect a threat or incident might occur. KVNF’s Lisa Young met with one local League of Women Voters in our region during its first in-person meeting since the pandemic.
  • The Cedaredge Planning and Zoning Commission postponed its decision on the Mesa Point planned unit development and sketch plan Tuesday night, reports Lucas Vader of the Delta County Independent. The project, as proposed, would bring 421 homes to Cedaredge as well as a recreation center, tennis and pickleball court, trails, open public space and a hotel to the 118 acre major subdivision.
  • The West End Dems of San Miguel and Montrose Counties, a new political organization in the region, held a candidates' meet-and-greet session at the Lone Cone Library in Norwood on Saturday. George Lewis, representing the democratic organization, says more than 70 people attended with nine candidates in attendance.
  • FEATURE: Delta Health has seen its fair share of financial woes over the past five years. The rural hospital on Western Slope has seen the loss of nearly $30 million dollars during that time. A costly repayment of roughly $7 million dollars to Medicare during the pandemic almost put the Delta County healthcare provider out of business.   • Delta County is opening a new Voter Service and Polling Center at Heritage Hall, located at the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss. This new location will provide voters with a convenient option to vote in person, drop off their mail ballots, pick up replacement ballots, update their voter registration, and register to vote for the upcoming General Election. The Heritage Hall Voter Service and Polling Center will be open Monday, November 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Election Day Tuesday, November 5 th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
