In addition to wrapping up the Little Blue Canyon project on July 4th, CDOT officials are planning to have the U.S. 50 bridge between Montrose and Gunnison partially opened. The bridge closure has drivers detouring on County Road 26. The road is open to single-lane traffic led by a pilot car during certain time frames. For KVNF, Laura Palmisano went to the westbound side of the cutoff to speak to drivers getting in the line up and also check in with local officials.

The USDA says nine states have cow herds that are infected with bird flu. Some of those herds are here in Colorado, where the first infection was detected in the northeastern part of the state in April. Delta County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution opposing the proposed Dolores Canyon Monument during its June 4th meeting. Although the proposed monument is in Mesa and Montrose Counties, the three Republican Commissioners sided with its neighboring counties to oppose any such designation.
