How do we reckon with experience that we do not have language for?
In this writing workshop, we invite North Fork Community participants to join us in grappling with how we talk about the thing we don’t yet have language for - the monster at the heart of our story: the beast that is unchecked greed, consumption without excretion, life without death, death without reciprocity, linear progression devoid of cyclicality - and cultivate words, especially adjectives and verbs, that help us expand the ways we understand the nature of this monster to better face it and transmute it without creating further alienation along political, religious and cultural boundaries.
Please join us to celebrate Anthony Buxton’s long life and his prolific body of work. A Paonia fixture, Anthony first moved to the valley in the 1970s after attending The San Francisco Art Institute. Although his local murals have been destroyed, a large scale painting still remains in the children’s section of the Hotchkiss Public Library. After the a retrospective, Anthony’s friends and family plan to gather in the park for BYO barbecue and games. Everyone is welcome.
