Center for Mental Health Says New Vehicle Makes Partnership With Law Enforcement More Effective

A unique collaboration between the Center for Mental Health and local law enforcement agencies offers frontline intervention to help diffuse conflicts for those experiencing a mental health crisis. Now the Montrose Police Department has acquired a brand new vehicle for the co-responder through state grant funds which is expected to have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the program. KVNF's Gavin Dahl spoke to Chief Clinical Officer Amanda Jones and Montrose Police commander Matt Smith to learn more.

 

Gavin Dahl is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. He worked for KVNF from July 2020 to July 2022. He won awards and recognition for his KVNF reporting from the Colorado Broadcasters Association and Society of Professional Journalists. His writing has been published by The Montrose Press, The Sopris Sun, Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Radio Survivor, Boise Weekly, and The Austin American-Statesman. He graduated from The Evergreen State College with a BA in media production and community organizing.
