The Delta Police Department seized 123 suspected fentanyl pills from a shoplifter at Clubb's Variety Store in Delta, reports the Delta County Independent. In response to the growing concern about drugs and crime, the Delta Police Department will host a town hall event at 6pm on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Bill Heddles Recreation Center. Lawmakers gathered at the state Capitol Monday for the start of the 2023 legislative session. Democrats hold strong majorities in both the House and the Senate.

  • The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is winding down its operation of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine hotline, reports the Colorado Newsline. Delta County Commissioners approved a budget request by its Human Services Department last month to nearly triple the amount of pay case managers were receiving for working a week of on-call shifts, reports the Delta County Independent. Last October, concerns about racial intolerance among administrative staff at the City of Durango led to the resignation of 4 members of the city’s Community Relations Commission.   • The Interior Department is spending nearly 85-million-dollars to help communities in the West tackle challenges brought on by drought. According to the most recent Colorado SNOWTEL report, the Gunnison River Basin is at 139% of normal with the Yampa and White River Basin at 150% of normal. The first snow system of the new year brought in varying amounts of snow fall. Higher elevation did better with Silverton - 13.5 inches ,and Monarch Pass - 10 inches. Durango and Cedaredge reported 5 inches, and surprisingly Telluride reported only an inch and a half of snow. The 2022 mid-term elections weren’t the best for Colorado Republicans as Democrats retained top state positions and once again took the majority in both houses. In our final report from Rep.
