  • On this edition of Local Motion, Lisa Young highlights a few of her favorite stories featured on our KVNF Stories tab on our web-site.The audio journey takes listeners from a joyous story about Paonia’s Color the Town Campaign in June all the way to a heart wrenching story about families impacted by the Sunset Mesa Funeral Home as they gather at Delta's Confluence Park to release "cremains" given to them by the now defunct funeral home.Story #1 - Our first story is about how a decision last fall by the town of Paonia led numerous volunteers from The Learning Council to step up with the Color the Town With Us Campaign.Story #2 - From rainbows to balloons, we go to Confluence Park in Delta for the first inaugural 4th of July Western Sky Balloon Festival.Story #3 - While our region is known for plentiful parades and fun festivals, some folks would rather be up “in them thar hills”. That’s where I found "Richie" White, Camp Host at Ward Lake talking about his busy Friday morning in mid-July at the popular campground on Grand Mesa.Story #4 - Next up we have a story about how the North Fork Community stepped up to repair damage along the Paonia River Park trails due to flooding this spring. Story #5 - Our story comes from our KVNF Farm Friday Feature on our Friday Regional Newscasts. I share the story of one North Fork Valley family that placed its orchard in a “permanent” conservation easement.Story #6 - We wrap up this Local Motion with the heartbreaking story about several families impacted by Sunset Mesa Funeral Home body-brokering scam.   • Following a decision last November by the town of Paonia to not allow Pride Flags to be displayed on its light poles along Grand Avenue, numerous volunteers from The Learning Council stepped up with the Color the Town With Us Campaign.
  • Colorado Department of Transportation is fast-tracking a temporary bridge over a large washout that closed Colorado Highway 133 in late April. However, numerous businesses in the North Fork and Roaring Fork Valleys continue to feel the economic impact just as the summer season is fully underway.
