Wildcard: Rocky Mountain Community Radio Stories

RMCR_Logo_Green.jpg

In a special edition of Wildcard, KVNF's Gavin Dahl assembles a selection of stories from around the Rocky Mountain Community Radio coalition. We hear from KSJD Cortez about the first year of Colorado's red flag law, from KGNU Boulder about the emerald ash borer infesting trees on the Front Range, from KHOL Jackson about a clash over helicopter tours in Grand Teton National Park, from a park ranger on KZMU Moab about Leave No Trace principles, from Congressman Joe Neguse on wildfire preparedness on KFFR Winter Park, from a state Labor Department official on KRZA Alamosa, from blind journalist Nick Isenberg touring a gem shop that encourages touching the merchandise on KDNK Carbondale, and an unreleased original song performed in-studio by Bonnie Paine and Bridget Law at KGNU.

Gavin Dahl is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. He worked for KVNF from July 2020 to July 2022. He won awards and recognition for his KVNF reporting from the Colorado Broadcasters Association and Society of Professional Journalists. His writing has been published by The Montrose Press, The Sopris Sun, Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Radio Survivor, Boise Weekly, and The Austin American-Statesman. He graduated from The Evergreen State College with a BA in media production and community organizing.
