A CMU Montrose Campus event, "Investigations at the Harris Site" occurs in Cascade Hall and is free and open to the public. Montrose local Bill Harris discovered this important archaeological site on the Uncompahgre Plateau in 1984. Six years of excavations revealed Archaic people occupied it as long as 4,000 years ago while a nearby Ute campsite was in use just over a century ago. Harris shares the excavation and recordings at the eponymous site.
