Dolores Canyons National Monument

  • For KVNF, Brody Wilson interviews two local leaders on opposite sides of the proposed Dolores Canyon Monument. Joining Wilson are Montrose County Commissioner Sue Hansen and Scott Braden, Colorado Wildlands Project.
  • Delta County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution opposing the proposed Dolores Canyon Monument during its June 4th meeting. Although the proposed monument is in Mesa and Montrose Counties, the three Republican Commissioners sided with its neighboring counties to oppose any such designation.
  • Colorado Governor Jared Polis made a brief stop in Paonia on Monday for a bill signing hosted by Orchard Valley Farms and Market. The Democratic Governor was flanked by Republican State Representative Marc Catlin and Republican State Senator Perry Will. Polis spoke just a few feet from the rapid flowing North Fork of the Gunnison River.
  • Senator John Hickenlooper flanked by former state senator Don Corum held a listening session in Naturita last Friday regarding the proposed Dolores National Monument.
