Today marks the 39th observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The day is a federal holiday observed on the third Monday of January each year. King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state law and civil society.

Pediatrician Barbara Zind recently retired from full-time practice in Grand Junction. She volunteered for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. She arrived in Gaza the day before the war began and was trapped there for nearly a month.

Grand Junction placed 45th on The New York Times’ annual “52 Places to Go” list, reported the Daily Sentinel earlier this month. The City of Montrose is selling a small parcel of land located on the Black Canyon Golf Course back to the individual who originally donated the property, according to the Montrose Daily Press. Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Silt introduced the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, reports Colorado Newsline.
