Paonia Town Board of Trustees

  • On today’s Farm Friday, some schools are getting much needed help in providing healthy meals to their students. USDA’s Gary Crawford shares that story. Delta County Democrats recently held a summer fundraiser featuring several Democratic candidates. The event in Paonia is the first of many for local Democrats in the run-up to the 2024 election season.

  • The LGBTQ community nationwide and in Colorado mourns another senseless shooting at a Colorado Springs night club over the weekend. A 22 year old gunman killed at least 5 patrons and wounded 25 others around midnight on Saturday. Paonia Trustees are considering three finalists for town administrator, reports the Delta County Independent. The three applicants are Guy Patterson, Evan Bolt and Melissa Fields-Allgeyer. Delta Health received its first sales tax payment in the amount of $318,000, The money was tallied nearly four months after voters approved the hospital’s 0.8% sales tax initiative. The City of Montrose saw increases in tax collections across the board during the third quarter of 2022.
  • Family and friends gathered last Friday to mourn and remember 18 year old North Fork High school student Edwardo “Eddie” Carrillo. Carrillo and 17 year old Alexi Armendariz, a Delta High School student, were killed last week in a car crash on Hwy 133. A formal petition with 56 signatures was presented to the Paonia Town of Trustees at the Oct. 13 meeting. The petition dated Oct. 10 requested “the immediate resignation/removal of Trustee Thomas Markle based on his unprofessional actions and abusive behaviors.
