Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center is putting up an exhibit on the 13th of April of local artist, Julia Reid's contemporary/abstract works of art, which will run through the 11th of May. The opening artist reception will be on Friday, April 17th from 4 to 6PM and is located across from Starr's Guitars in Cedaredge CO. Kirtan is the ancient yogic practice of call and response chanting from India. We have Americanized it, made it funky and rocking and gospel and danceable and all sorts of fun! Steve Emmerman has been playing and leading kirtan for 26 years around the world with his own Chicago-based group Devi 2000 as well as with legendary kirtan leaders Dave Stringer, Saul David Raye, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Bagavan Das, Suzanne Sterling, etc.
The band consists of world class musicians David Alderdice, Daniel Be, and John Whooley, and is joined by supremely talented singers Aja McAdams and Katie Snyder. There will be levitation, enlightenment, dolphin rides, and possibly refreshments....

Bob Grossman, from the Western Slope DarkSky Coalition, will talk about the precedent-setting application for a San Miguel County DarkSky International DarkSky Reserve. No other county in the USA has done this. There are only two Reserves in the US and 24 in the World. He will describe a DarkSky Reserve, the Coalition's philosophy about Reserves, and progress to date.
