Gather together with local fermenters for an evening of learning, sampling, and celebrating! This class will feature local fermented products and their makers including bread, kimchi, vegetables, peppers, meat, cheese, and more!

The highly acclaimed film ‘Where the Rope Ends’ will be shown at the Wright Opera House on April 27th at 6:00 PM. All proceeds support Ouray Mountain Rescue. Happy hour is at 6:00. The movie shows at 7:00. After the showing, Q & A with a recently rescued community member and her rescuers. Ouray Mountain Rescue is celebrating its 50th year of service to our community. This fundraiser will help us purchase equipment and training to keep us on the cutting edge of rescue work. Please join us and help us prepare for the next 50 years of service. Landscape Designwith Wind Clearwater

Join us as we design the outdoor Community Space at the Hearth! Wind Clearwater will teach an Introduction to Landscape Design class to create a beautiful & functional garden & event space in downtown Paonia at the Hearth's Backyard! Focusing on edible and medicinal perennials, drought-tolerant plants, microclimates, water management, and forest gardening, Wind will lead us in this fun, educational Community Event!

Wind Clearwater has been observing and learning from the natural world to apply the principles and ethics of permaculture to hundreds of landscapes over the past 30 years, including his home and education center, The Oasis, outside Hotchkiss.

Advanced English class: Tuesdays beginning January 9, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. This is for students who can speak and read some English and want to improve those skills. We will focus on more advanced reading and writing.

Demonstration of rose pruning techniques followed by plenty of hands-on practice in the Botanic Gardens. Bring your thick garden gloves, hand pruners and long-handled loppers -- we have a limited supply to share. Snacks provided by Montrose Botanical Society.
English class for all levels: Wednesdays beginning January 10, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. We will divide students into groups to study English at their appropriate level.

A community event to welcome two Dine’ (aka) Navajo Medicine Men. Anderson Hoskie and Harrison Jim will provide traditional and ceremonial songs, stories, prayers and wisdom. They will be joined by local musicians, Arlyn Deva, David, Daniel B. and Aaron Heideman to create a drumming fusion set.
Kent Tompkins will moderate and share a short film on his life in Indigenous country and his relationship with the land stemming from his roots in western Colorado.

Calling all painters and those who appreciate the great outdoors! Come join the "plein air" painters of the North Fork for a painting demonstration followed by a group paint out! This is a free community event. We will meet in front of the Blue Sage at nine and then walk to various locations and paint together. Please bring your own supplies including an easel and supplies for weathering the elements. See you there!
Jon and Candice Orlando have been farming and experimenting with regenerative agriculture for 14 years. Join them and Elizabeth Agee from Colorado Farm and Food Alliance for a workshop on utilizing cover crops, silage tarps, and other practices to work towards a no or low till growing system. We will also discuss cover crops and animal grazing as a means of preparing for cover crop planting.Suggested donation $20. Classroom session followed by walking garden tour.
