Still Life Painting Class with Rita PachecoCreate a beautiful impressionist style still life with local artist, Rita Pacheco. Rita has over 30 years of experience, and has a real passion for painting from life. She will set up several still life subjects, including florals and a range of other objects to choose to isolate and paint. We will explore composition, the “blocking in” of a painting and paint application. Students will leave the 2hr workshop with a better understanding of “seeing with an artistic eye” and their finished painting!
All materials and acrylic paints will be provided.*
* Students are welcome to bring their own acrylic or oil paint if they are more comfortable doing so (preferred color palette: titanium white, cad yellow light, yellow ochre, cad red light, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, rose madder or second choice alizarin crimson). If you’re bringing oil paint, don’t forget to bring an odorless solvent!

Join us for a workshop on the basic principles of beekeeping, caring for your bees, hive health and maintenance. We will see different types of beehives, learn where to source new bees, how to harvest honey & process wax, how to install a nuc, and discuss ways to keep our valley's bees healthy!
Ann & Steve raise bees on their diversified family farm - Immunity Farm - in Hotchkiss and sell honey at the Hotchkiss Farmers Market.
Kay has many years of professional beekeeping experience in Hawaii and on the mainland, and is an active beekeeper in the NFV.
Mark has been keeping bees for over 30 years. He grows many different varieties of produce, flowers and herbs that provide food for the bees all season long.
