A Lake City-based construction company can't start its first job of the season due to the bridge closure on U.S. 50 between Montrose and Gunnison. For KVNF, Laura Palmisano interviews Mike Schell, owner of Coal Creek Construction. Schell wants to see the Lake City cutoff open to commercial vehicles doing business locally.

The latest All Points Transit route from Montrose to Ouray called Our-Way hit the road last week. The new bus service is the result of a 2022 state grant obtained by Ouray City officials.

Today on Local Motion we take a look at a collaborative effort between the Nature Connection and the Western Slope Conservation Center to sponsor a Youth Trail Crew, young people who spend their summers maintaining the trail systems throughout the West Elks and Raggeds Wilderness. Taya Jae is joined by the young people on this crew and by Ben Grave of the Nature Connection, and Ben Katz of the Western Slope Conservation who join her to talk about the collaborative efforts behind this program – and what they believe is the importance of facilitating this type of work.
